About our Family

St. Simon

Hello, and welcome to the Gluten-free Traveler blog. My name is Carey, and I am a gluten-free traveler. My family and I enjoy exploring new places, discovering local gluten-free places to eat, and experiencing new adventures. We love learning about animal conservation, the outdoors, the history of places we visit, and finding hidden gems.

Unlike the rest of my family, I can’t eat gluten and have allergies to other foods. Before going on a vacation or trip, I would spend hours researching and calling restaurants I could enjoy while we were away from the comfort (and food security) of our home. During our travels, we would find it challenging to find places to eat other than chain restaurants or purchasing items from the grocery store.

My husband suggested I share the restaurants, cafes, and other eateries I find on our vacations. He assured me I could be one of many who have this much trouble finding gluten-free places to eat on vacation. I knew he was right, so I decided to share my food-hunting adventures with others and the wonderful family-friendly places we visit.

We are parents to three kids and know the struggle of finding places to keep our kids entertained on a family vacation. I will share the places we visit as a family, the fantastic food we eat, gluten-free restaurants, and kid-friendly places to make your family’s vacation worthwhile. I hope you find a new city to fall in love with, explore new foods and find a great adventure along the way. I know we will
