Hampton Inn Jacksonville Beach, Oceanfront
Family Beach Vacation Destination Spot
Since I was a teenager, I have been visiting Jacksonville Beach, Florida. It has been one of my favorite beaches for as long as I can remember. Locals own the majority of places such as restaurants, shops, rentals, and more. The beaches are rarely crowded unless it’s a significant holiday, or an event is taking place, such as the Blue Angels doing a flyover show at the beaches. The beaches stay clean, and there are clean up efforts you can take part in to help keep the beaches looking beautiful during the summer.
When my husband and I started dating, he joined in my yearly trips to Jacksonville Beach. Once we had kids, this became our annual family vacation to the beach. It is one vacation we will not miss since it is now a tradition. We have always stayed at Hampton Inn Jackson
ville Beach Oceanfront for many reasons, the location being number one. Like it says in the name of the hotel, it is located directly on the beach. Not only does this make for gorgeous morning views, but it also makes our trip down to the beach much more accessible. We load up our wagon with the kids’ beach toys, our cooler full of snacks and drinks, our beach bag, and make our way down the elevator, through the hall, and out the door to the boardwalk. In less than a few minutes, we set up our tent or rent beach chairs to have a fun-filled day at the beach.
This year we chose to rent an umbrella, chairs, and wind guard our first day at the beach. The wind was strong, and we knew our umbrella did not stand a chance. The rental company was terrific and very accommodating. They made the process very easy to rent the items and other things such as a boogie board, which both kids loved playing on in the ocean. It was their first time on a boogie board, which made for an exciting experience, and they spent more time pulling each other than trying to ride waves to shore. The best part about the rentals was we were able to charge them to our room. The rental company works with the hotel to make sure all those visiting have a wonderful stay.
In the evening, we spend time collecting seashells, looking for sharks’ teeth, and watching the kids chase the seagulls. Dinner was easy on these nights since the hotel has a restaurant attached. It is open to the public as well, but since it’s located next to where we stay, we tend to take advantage of the location. Tides has tasty food, great drinks, and a hummus plate I have copied many times at home and is now a staple.
Since I started staying at the Hampton Inn, it has upgraded and did a fantastic job renovated each room, hallway, and lobby. The rooms are a calming blue, which now mimics the serenity of the ocean. The sliding glass doors make it easy to enjoy the fresh salty air, the sunrise, and the sound of the sea. They have also updated their protocol for breakfast, check-in/out, and cleaning since Covid. The amount of precautions they take to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy is mind-blowing. The hotel still serves a beautiful breakfast, but now they help you. The one thing I wish they would work on adding to the breakfast is a gluten-free option. Since they do not, I bring my food to keep in the mini-refrigerator.
Hampton Inn has also improved on its cleaning policies. They have now partnered with Lysol to make sure each room is disinfected. The cleaning crew will also place a sticker seal on the door and wall to show cleaning has been finished and show no one has entered the room since the cleaning has been completed. We did learn this trip if you want your room cleaned during your stay, you have to make a special request. Hampton Inn made sure there was minimal contact between guests, those helping to keep the hotel safe for the guest, and those cleaning each room. You also have a card for towels. As the guest, this allows you access to the pool and beach towels daily but maintains contact to a minimum.
The pool itself seems like an oasis. The shape seems like a mini lagoon, the water fall creates a calming atmosphere, and the palm trees give you the sinces of being on an island. We enjoyed a day of swimming and playing pool basketball. It had fun eating lunch, enjoying drinks, and splashing in the water. After our pool day, we took a much needed nap before our evening walk on the beach. These are memories we are hoping to continue to make this year with your annual trip to the beach.
